The City of Vilnius, became the Birthplace of the Divine Mercy Devotion, when Saint Faustina began her mission under the guidance and discernment of her new Spiritual Director Fr. Michael Sopocko. When Saint Faustina lived in this City before the Second World War, it was politically part of Poland, but today it has reverted to being the capital of an independent nation, Lithuania.
Father Igor Simonovis was a diocesan priest in Concordia-Pordenone in northern Italy, near the Austrian border. For about ten years He was a pastor of four parishes in the mountain region Val d'Arzino, and in one of his parishes the first community of Brothers of Merciful Jesus came into being.
Jesus asked St. Faustina to found a new religious congregation that would dedicate themselves to spreading His message of Divine Mercy in deed word and prayer to the ends of the earth.
As a Community desired by God Himself, there is a tremendous responsibility on it, but also a very special grace and a unique vocation in making know the message of Divine Mercy to the world. With a charism and spirituality coming directly from God, Fr. Sopocko called them “pillars of the future.”
The Importance of Fr. Michael Sopocko in Jesus’ plan for Divine Mercy revelations can not be over estimated. Jesus said to St. Faustina: "He will be My visible help for you on earth. He will help you to carry out My will " (Diary 53)."His thoughts are closely united to Mine, so be at peace about what concerns My work. I will not let him make a mistake, and you should do nothing without his permission" (Diary 1408).
This article is a collection of the most famous quotes from Saints on the Mercy of God. These will inspire you and deepen your understanding of Divine Mercy.
Your duty is to trust entirely in My Mercy, My duty is to give you all that you need. I am making Myself dependent upon your trust: if your trust is great, then My generosity will be without limit. (Words of Jesus to St. Faustina - Diary 548)
“I considered this message my special task. Providence has assigned it to me in the present situation of man, the Church, and the world” (Bl. Pope John Paul II November 22, 1981)
Between 1931 – 1938, Jesus revealed to St. Faustina the new Devotion to Divine Mercy. He desired that there be a new Feast in honour of His Divine Mercy within the Church. He told her that, “This Feast emerged from the very depths of My mercy, and it is confirmed in the vast depths of My tender mercies. Every soul believing and trusting in My mercy will obtain it” (Diary 420).
Our Lord’s love for us is both Divine and human, for He possesses both a Divine and a human nature and will. Hence we may regard the Savior’s Most Sacred Heart as the symbol of His threefold love for us - divine love, spiritual human love and sensitive human love.

Blessed Fr. Michael Sopocko, was the confessor and spiritual director to Sister Faustina. Through her mediation, he was directly involved with the mystery of the revelations given by Jesus in the message of Divine Mercy.
After Saint Faustina’s final vows she was sent to the convent in Vilnius. She said, because of my frequent changes (to many different convents), I did not have a permanent spiritual director and I had great difficulty in speaking of these things, (the messages received from God). (Diary 34)
Our apostolate follows the exact request of Jesus in the message of Divine Mercy when He asks that we spread His Mercy in deed, word and prayer, but he qualified this by saying first in deed.
