The scent of these beads is to represent the smell of perfume that was often reported as coming from the Stigmata of St. Padre Pio.

His personal doctor gave testimony that he was carrying a piece of cloth in his briefcase, that had some of the blood from the Stigmata, and on his way home in the car, everyone present started to wonder what the beautiful smell of perfume was, and when he opened his briefcase, they discovered that the scent was omitting from the piece of cloth.
