Cupcini in Moldova is a town which has not had a church or priest since 1945 when the Soviets occupied it and closed all the churches in the country, sending all the priests to Siberia. This is the country which is the last communist bastion in Eastern Europe.

So “Divine Mercy in Action” took on this project to build a churchs to give these people a place to practice their faith and to allow the people of this town a right that was denied them since 1945.

Thirty priests and bishops attended this unique ceremony, where the Bishop of Chisinau, Moldova and the Bishop of Tbilisi, Georgia, were the main celebrants in the official opening.
